JOB LOCATION: CALABAR, CROSS RIVERS STATE

Our client is one of Nigeria’s leading nonprofit organizations focused on leadership development with the vision to raise a community of inspired, equipped and influential young leaders, who lead themselves and others. They are looking at hiring an Executive Secretary to lead the organization to achieve its objectives and goals, both short and long term.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the implementation of the company’s programmes, projects and activities.
  • Work with the Board to develop and implement comprehensive strategies for the company’s growth.
  • Oversee the management of office operations.
  • Establish and manage strategic relationships with local and international partners.
  • Manage the brand, actively promote programmes and activities across different media platforms.
  • Raise funds on behalf of the company and interface with its local and international partners and fund raisers.
  • Build an effective team of leaders by providing guidance and coaching to subordinate managers.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the company, providing training sessions, presentations and representing the organization at local and international events.
  • Manage the company’s budget and ensure transparency and efficient use of the organizations financial and nonfinancial resources.
  • Provide regular reports on the company’s progress to board members, funders, supporters and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee any other tasks that may emerge as the organization grows.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Minimum of 7 years' professional work experience in a non- profit sector with managerial experience and the ability to energize and lead a team.
  • BA, BSC, HND.  MSc/MBA will be an added advantage.
  • Must have demonstrated strong knowledge working on youth related development programmes and projects.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Experience in programme planning, training management, delivery and monitoring & evaluation.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven track record of leadership and team coordination.
  • Practical knowledge of proposal writing, grant sourcing and donor management, facilitation skills and curriculum development.
  • In depth knowledge of corporate governance principles and managerial best practices.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools: MS Word; Excel, PowerPoint.

 

PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • A person of high integrity, moral courage and respect for subordinates.
  • An experienced project manager with experience in leading a team effort preferably in the development space.
  • A skilled negotiator, familiar with non-profit fundraising and who is able to develop proposals and bids.
  • An excellent communicator, both oral and written, capable of engaging local and international partners at a senior level on programmes and organisational initiatives and spoken English.
  • Flexible multi-tasker with good time management skills. One who can meet deadlines.
  • Passion for Nigerian development and commitment to transforming the country.
  • Willing to travel frequently within and beyond Nigeria.
  • Preferably living within Calabar or must be willing to relocate to Calabar
